Marin Marais composed his Suitte d'un Goût Étranger (Suite in a Strange/Foreign Style) in 1717. Marais wrote over 500 pieces for the viola da gamba, and some of his most intriguing pieces are found in this charming virtuosic suite that is mostly unknown to flutists. Unlike his other suites that focus on one key area, the Suitte d'un Goût Étranger explores many different keys, some of which were rarely used in the baroque period.
